QMotion Revolutionizes Motorized Window Coverings With Affordable, Safe Cordless Shades

QMotion™, an unprecedented new concept in motorized window shade technology, will debut at the NAHB International Builders’ Show at booth W-4043 in Orlando, January 12–15, 2011.

QMotion Shades are the first of their kind in the window coverings industry. These motorized shades are quiet, beautiful and available in a wide selection of colors and textures. And they are completely free of cords and wires. Affordable for home use, they can be programmed to operate in groups and can even be controlled remotely from anywhere in the world.

How is this possible?

Breakthrough Technology

Engineers at QMotion have reinvented how motorized shades operate by housing precision steel ball bearings in each shade’s tube. This innovative design minimizes friction, reducing the amount of power needed to raise and lower the shade and thereby making batteries last for up to five years – an industry first. QMotion Shades operate with standard alkaline batteries that are discreetly housed inside the shade tube, yet are easy to replace when new batteries are required. And, yes, batteries are included!

Unlike conventional motorized shades, QMotion Shades are remarkably quiet. Their movement is smooth, virtually silent, without the typical jarring sounds associated with yesterday’s motorized shades.

Because QMotion Shades are cordless, they are safe. They are ideal for hospitals, daycare centers, schools and residential use. They are available in a variety of elegant fabrics, clean lines and modern finishes that will coordinate with any commercial or home décor.

Dual-operating Function

In another industry first, QMotion Shades feature a unique dual-operating function. The shades will operate with or without a wireless remote controller. Without the remote controller the shades are adjusted by applying a short tug to the bottom bar, which activates the motor and moves the shades to a fully open or to a preprogrammed intermediate position. When a longer tug is applied to the bottom bar, the shade will stay at the reset position of the tug.

QMotion Shades are easy to install and require no special tools. Their battery power means simple installation – no wires, drywall damage or expensive electrician’s bills. The preprogrammed shades require only a single step for setup. However, QMotion’s innovative technology allows the shades to “learn” custom positions with just a few simple steps. An option to preprogram the raising and lowering of shades to selected times throughout the day adds an even greater level of simplicity and helps reduce home energy consumption.

Customized, remote automation of QMotion Shades is available with the Home Manager ST™, a web- based interface. This system is so advanced it can also control lights, sensors and thermostats, for total environmental home automation.

And if all this sounds expensive, it isn’t. QMotion Shades are affordably priced, so motorized, cordless shades are now feasible for many homeowners – after all, safety should never be a luxury item.
